Reader's Guide
Blackguards holds significance as Daedalic Entertainment's highest-grossing game as of September 2014, a position it maintained through 2016. Company representative Carsten Fichtelmann attributed this to a high rate of full price sales, contrasting with the greater sales quantity but lower revenue of the Deponia series. The game received mixed reviews, with a Metacritic score of 68/100 from 48 reviews. IGN's Rowan Kaiser rated it 7.8/10, praising its tactical elements but criticizing its muddled progression system. Tony Vilgotsky of Russian magazine Mir Fantastiki rated it 8/10, noting that its depth, enthrallment, and atmosphere made it interesting not only for turn-based RPG and fantasy adventure fans but for a wide circle of gamers. The game's legacy includes a sequel and a definitive edition for consoles, expanding its reach beyond its original PC release.
