Avadon 2: The Corruption is a single-player role-playing game from Spiderweb Software, the second installment in the Avadon trilogy. It launched for Mac OS X and Windows in October 2013, and an iPad version came out in 2014.
The story takes place on the continent of Lynaeus, split between two warring sides: the Pact, an alliance of five nations, and the Farlands, a collection of faded empires and barbarian territories. The Pact formed for mutual defense against invasion. Within the Pact operates the fortress of Avadon, a small army of warriors, spies, and assassins tasked with eliminating threats before they grow. Avadon’s agents wield great power and are not bound by Pact law, which can lead to corruption. At the start of Avadon 2, Avadon has been sacked, and an invading host threatens the player’s homeland. The player is conscripted by Avadon to find a way to repel the attackers.
Players choose a character from five classes: Blademaster, Shadowwalker, Shaman, Sorcerer, or Tinkermage (a new class for this sequel). Later, they recruit two more characters from the same set of classes and undertake missions assigned by Avadon’s leaders. Each class has dozens of unique abilities, including damage-dealing spells, summons, blessings, curses, and healing rituals. The game features elaborate scripted encounters designed to encourage varied tactics. Combat is turn-based, with creatures taking turns to move, use abilities, and attack.

Lore & Background
The Avadon series is set on the fictional continent of Lynaeus, divided between two warring factions: the Pact, an alliance of five nations, and the Farlands, a loose-knit group of faded empires and barbarian territories. The Pact has banded together for safety and to fend off invasion from the other lands of Lynaeus. The fortress of Avadon is a force within the Pact, a small army of warriors, spies, and assassins tasked to protect the Pact and eliminate threats before they grow. Servants of Avadon have great power and are not bound by the laws of the Pact, though this can lead to corruption and abuse.
As Avadon 2 begins, Avadon has been sacked, and a host of invaders are preparing to invade the player's homeland. The player is conscripted by Avadon and must hunt for a way to fend off the attackers. The player assumes the role of one of five classes: Blademaster, Shadowwalker, Shaman, Sorcerer, or Tinkermage (a new class added in Avadon 2). Later, the player can recruit two other characters from the same set of classes and embark on missions assigned by the leaders of Avadon.
Reader's Guide
Avadon 2: The Corruption continues the narrative of the Avadon trilogy, deepening the political and moral tensions within the Pact and the fortress of Avadon. Its significance lies in expanding the series' class system with the Tinkermage and emphasizing tactical turn-based combat with elaborate scripted encounters. The game's setting—a continent divided between an alliance of nations and a loose confederation of empires and barbarians—provides a backdrop for exploring themes of power, corruption, and loyalty. As a single-player RPG, it offers a focused experience where players manage a party of three characters, each with dozens of abilities including spells, blessings, curses, and healing rituals. The game's release across Mac, Windows, and iPad platforms helped maintain Spiderweb Software's reputation for delivering deep, story-driven RPGs to multiple audiences. Its legacy is as a middle chapter that bridges the events of the first and third games, while introducing new gameplay elements that kept the series fresh for returning players.
